Araz was born in Tehran, Iran on June 1980. He started playing Tar at the age of 8 under the instruction of Tofigh Iranparvar. He studied Iranian classical repertoire, vocal and instrumental Radifs, under the supervision of maestros Hooshang Zarif, Arshad Tahmasebi and Hossein Omoumi. He has been tutoring playing Tar and Setar for more than 10 years. In 2005, he finished his graduate program in engineering, and at the same year immigrated to Canada.

He is about to release his first solo CD, “Birth”, in August. In “Birth”, Araz, as the composer and soloist, has tried to create his own style of performing by forging the essence of Iranian music with his unique contemporary interpretation.
